Bumping old threads infraction...what is the definition of doing so?

Moderators, i think this infraction could use some clarification, as in a definition.

When is adding a comment to a thread bumping an old thread? How old qualifies as old? Two weeks, two months, two years?

Why not just automatically lock all "old" threads if you don't want any more comments in them?

FFI, a mod PMed me this:

Sure, and you are not the first to receive an infraction for bumping an old thread by posting something not relative to the original thread.
Which is what you did with that 2017 thread.

This rule has been in place for almost 3 years but we, the Mods haven't inforced it until a few months ago.
So please stick to posting New threads or if you're going to bump a thread, make sure it's not older than a year and you post something that is relative to the subject.
